Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Public Service Transformation Office (PSTO), Jola Oyeneye, has called for adoption of strategic Human Resource (HR) management in developing and retaining employees to achieve government’s goals. Oyeneye stated this at the 40th Induction Ceremony of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) for Inductees from the Lagos State Civil Service. He maintained that HR issues in the public sector could be a difficult hurdle as there are different components that could cause ineffective decisions that may slow down operations. He listed the benefits of strategic HR to include increased job satisfaction, better work culture, improved clients’ satisfaction and higher productivity. He advised them to utilise the knowledge and skills acquired during training to positively impact their respective ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
